Volunteers are assigned to a committee on one of four divisions: Player Services, Spectator Services, Volunteer Services and Facilities.

Announcers - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Introduce players to the crowd as they begin play at either #1 tee or #10 tee (Thursday/Friday). Strong public speaking skills and appropriate voice/inflection required.
Assist with Professional Caddie registration and caddie services throughout tournament week
Assist with implementation and operation of VIP guests participating in the Honorary Observer Program. Assist with logistics, uniform distribution, guidelines and escorting guests to #1 tee.
Assist PGA TOUR Media Officials with registration, operations and the welcoming of local, national and international journalists to promote the image of THE PLAYERS Championship and provide the best possible experience to our media outlets.
Assist with Player registration and services throughout tournament week.
Provide transportation to players and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament. Assist with the inventory and control the distribution of approximately two hundred (200) official tournament vehicles. Drivers must be at least 25 years old.
Practice Grounds / Runners - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Provide gallery control of the practice areas and to regulate access to and from all practice facilities for the contestants and tournament officials. It is important that our volunteers be mobile. Volunteers must be able to stand, walk and move for extended periods of time. Golf Cart Training is mandatory. On the first day of the tournament, a Runner must be no younger than 10 years of age or no older than 13 years of age.
ShotLink - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the ShotLink system, while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Transmission achieved via the use of hand held Palm Pilots and stationary tripod cameras. ShotLink volunteers may be required to climb onto a platform which can be more than 6 feet off the ground. ShotLink training required prior to tournament week.
Will work same position for all (4) days. 4- day volunteers will be placed first. 2- day volunteers only on Thursday and Friday. Indicate green, fairway or either.
Standard Bearers - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting
Accompany each group of players during play and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis. The Standard Bearers committee consists of young adults, ages 14 -18, who must be able to carry the standard (weight approximately 5 to 7 pounds) for the length of the course.
Procure all tournament vehicles before tournament week and make them ready for players, officials and VIP guests. Committee also assists in the return of vehicles after the tournament. Drivers must be at least 25 years old. Committee works in advance of the tournament, during and post event.
Walking Scorers - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Record the scores and statistics of play on a Palm Pilot during competitive rounds.
Apparel - Requirements: Heavy Lifting
Inventory and distribute volunteer apparel. Responsibilities include management of uniform distribution area, apparel exchanges, sales and returns. Volunteers will need to be available prior to tournament week (various dates in April) to assist with Uniform Distribution.
Assist with controlling the issuance of badges and tickets during the tournament to the Admissions Committee and to Will Call. Volunteers will need to be available prior to tournament week (various dates in April TBD) to assist with Volunteer Credential Distribution.
Darlene’s Diner (Volunteer Dinning)
Darlene’s Diner is connected to Volunteer Headquarters in the new Volunteer Village. This is for the exclusive use of credentialed volunteers. Volunteers assist with full food and beverage operations within the volunteer dining area.
Assist in the Championship Management Office prior to and during the tournament by providing general administrative duties to include answering the phones, answering questions, taking ticket orders, and assisting with large mailings.
Photography - Requirements: Photography/Social Media
Coordinate volunteer photo opportunities throughout the tournament week as well as during other volunteer functions throughout the year.
Supply - Requirements: Heavy Lifting
Inventory, distribute and maintain tournament supplies such as equipment, televisions, tools and construction materials.
VIP Parking / Shuttle - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, DUST
Operate and control proper access and flow to all parking areas located in THE PLAYERS VIP parking lots. Ability to work on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time in the sun.
Volunteer Information - Requirements: Photography/Social Media
Manage the digital experience of THE PLAYERS for volunteers/fans seeking to engage the tournament year-round with special focus on recruitment and activation of the next generation of PLAYERS Volunteers.
Volunteer Off site Shuttle - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Coordinate volunteer shuttle vans and buses, which shuttle volunteers to TPC Sawgrass from Davis Park. Ability to work on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time in the sun.
Coordinate all volunteer registration and information necessary to communicate with volunteers, leadership and staff.
16 Green Hospitality Zone
Greet guests and check credentials at entrances to sponsored hospitality locations. Assist Marshals with noise control when players approach hospitality areas. Assist corporate clients as necessary to ensure the best possible experience.
17 Hospitality Zone
Admissions / Will Call
Assist with checking for proper admission credentials, scanning tickets, distributing pairings guides and provide general information to spectators.
Assist with distribution of credentials that have been ordered in advance or left for pickup for future rounds.
Greet guests and check credentials at entrances to the Benefactor Hospitality tent. Assist Marshals with noise control when players are approaching hospitality areas. Assist corporate clients as necessary to ensure the best possible experience.
Provide information and assistance to corporate clients to ensure the best possible experience. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients are allowed in private hospitality areas. Assist Marshals with noise control when players approach hospitality areas. Some client interaction necessary.
Provide emergency medical care service and medical assistance on tournament grounds during Tournament Week. Professionally trained medical personnel (doctors, paramedics and EMT’s) only need to apply. ** Active medical license required/contracted vendors to provide medical services
Past Chairman Hospitality
Greet guests and check credentials at entrances to the Past Chairman Hospitality tent. Area is designated for Past Chairmen of THE PLAYERS and their family and guests.
Responsible for checking credentials and operations of a private hospitality venue for military personnel called the Patriots’ Outpost, which is located golfers right of 16 tee. Some heavy lifting could be involved.
Greet, interact and provide tournament assistance to spectators requesting guidance when entering the course or already on the course. Information booths and mobile teams are positioned to interact with the largest number of fans to improve their tournament experience. The Committee also distributes pairing sheets, course maps and any printed material to spectators and all onsite venues.
Coordinate and assist with all special events for THE PLAYERS Championship. Events include parties in Stadium Village, The Patio, non-denominational church service (Sunday of tournament week) and other events on site.

Commissary - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting
Distribute non-alcoholic beverages and coolers on course and to appropriate committees, players and venues. Committee requires lifting of products (ice, beverages and coolers)
Committee receives radios, telephones and associated equipment from licensed vendor. Assist vendor in the placement of transmitting equipment in appropriate areas. Equipment to be inventoried and accounted for prior, during and after the tournament ensuring accountability of equipment received. Equipment to be distributed to appropriate departments based upon a predetermined needs schedule.
Construction - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting
Assist with player fencing, set-up of venues, tournament set up and other various projects as necessary. Volunteers will need to be available prior to tournament week to assist with pre-tournament projects. Assist with tear down and clean up post tournament.
Course Prep - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting
Stake and rope the course and all auxiliary areas as required with the objective of maximizing spectator viewing. Work with PGA TOUR Director of Security and Rules Officials as necessary to ensure player safety. Complete other various projects as necessary.
Disabled Guest Services - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Dust
Provide cart transportation for disabled spectators to and from the bus drop at the main entrance and disabled parking to designated areas on the golf course.
Golf Carts - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting
Control inventory and distribution of tournament golf carts. Maintenance of carts, inclusive of charging and upkeep.
Marshals - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Provide gallery control for the Championship. Assigned to a specific hole for the week. **Reports to First Vice Chair
Onsite Parking - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure, Heavy Lifting, Dust
Operate and control proper access and flow to all parking areas located in THE PLAYERS on-site parking lots.
Produce and maintain various signage used during the tournament including player parking signs, cart signs, standard bearer, practice range and caddie bib signs.
Tournament Support - Requirements: SUN/HEAT Exposure
Handle ropes in the practice area to allow players to move freely. Provide support to the equipment representatives and various hospitality venues including our Proud Partners. Assist with situations that develop during the week requiring special attention including escorting players, providing services to guests including those with disabilities, and other items that arise. **Reports to First Vice Chair
