Volunteer Village
Volunteer Village is your home base throughout tournament week. Located just inside the Volunteer Only Entrance, it is where you will check in, pick up your uniform, grab a meal at Darlene's Diner, and connect with fellow volunteers.
Darlene's Diner
Darlene's Diner is a special concession area exclusively for credentialed volunteers, offering coffee in the morning and a delicious home-style breakfast for a small cost, plus reduced-price lunch items for all working volunteers. Volunteers who are unable to return to Darlene's Diner for lunch will be given a lunch voucher good for a discounted meal at participating concession stands.
The Backyard
The Backyard is your spot for downtime and fun during tournament week. Activities include a committee putting challenge, Birdies Ice Cream, Florida Coffee Peddler, and live music.
The Volunteer Party
The Volunteer Party is a highlight of championship week. Held at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse, the party is an evening of resort-casual celebration and camaraderie, featuring a presentation in the Main Foyer followed by an evening of food and fun. Tickets are digital and non-transferable, and demand is always high.
Volunteer Perks
We believe in recognizing the time and energy you dedicate to THE PLAYERS Championship. All eligible volunteers receive a 30% merchandise coupon for the Fan Shop, a PLAYERS Championship volunteer pin, the opportunity to be nominated for Volunteer Awards, and discounted food and beverages in Darlene's Diner. Additional perks are available based on hours served: volunteers who work at least 24 hours are eligible for either a merchandise discount or a dining discount at TPC Sawgrass, while those who work at least 36 hours are eligible for a merchandise discount, a dining discount, or a golf discount at TPC Sawgrass.
Please note: Youth volunteers are not eligible for Volunteer Perks.
What You Will Wear
The Volunteer Uniform Package includes a PLAYERS volunteer polo, a black jacket, and headwear. Men may wear khaki-colored pants or knee-length shorts, and women may wear khaki or white colored pants, skirts, capris, or knee-length shorts. Cargo-style shorts, skirts, and pants are not permitted. Please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes — spikeless golf shoes are permitted.
An exclusive Volunteer PLAYERS Championship rain jacket is also available for purchase at a discounted price courtesy of Cutter & Buck and may be worn as part of the official volunteer uniform.
Preparing for Your First Shift
- Communicate. Your Committee Chair is your main point of contact. Be sure to fully understand the expectations for your position and know exactly where and when to check in for your shift. Each committee, and each Committee Chair, has a different system. Even if you are returning to your previous committee, please be aware each year brings change.
- Plan Ahead. Review the route you need to take to arrive at your assigned location on course in advance and plan extra time on your first day. Once THE PLAYERS week begins, the course becomes congested with golf carts, spectators, and the occasional delay while ropes are being held for players.
- Dress the Part. Remember to wear your PLAYERS volunteer blue polo, black jacket, and volunteer headwear.
