Equipped to win: Special Olympics Florida Northeast Region scores new equipment from THE PLAYERS Championship
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida - THE PLAYERS Championship awarded Special Olympics Florida’s Northeast Region with 24 sets of clubs for local athletes.
This contribution directly addresses the need for quality equipment within Special Olympics Florida’s local golf program, ensuring that athletes have the necessary tools to excel in their sporting pursuits. With 58 athletes spanning five counties in Northeast Florida, the equipment will be thoughtfully distributed among participants, promoting accessibility and inclusivity for all.
"We are profoundly grateful to THE PLAYERS Championship for their incredible donation of golf equipment," said Shelley Henry, Northeast Regional Director of Special Olympics Florida. "This ensures our athletes have access to quality equipment, allowing them to hone their skills and fully participate in the sport they love. This contribution significantly enhances our mission to foster inclusivity and provide meaningful opportunities for our athletes to succeed."
This donation was made possible through THE PLAYERS Championship Equipment Grant Program, wherein THE PLAYERS provides equipment from the PGA TOUR Superstore to local nonprofits. Interested nonprofits are encouraged to apply to the program for future opportunities.
"We are honored to support Special Olympics Florida Northeast Region by providing much-needed golf equipment," said Lee Smith, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS Championship. "At the heart of our mission is a commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. We believe that every individual should have the opportunity to enjoy the game of golf and experience the benefits of sports participation."
