THE PLAYERS Championship and local newborns celebrate special birthdays with commemorative onesies

Local babies born during THE PLAYERS (March 11-17) will receive a special onesie

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – In celebration of THE PLAYERS Championship’s 50th birthday, the tournament is helping all babies born this week to be the most adorable (and youngest) PLAYERS’ fans in Northeast Florida with limited-edition “Island Baby” onesies. Each onesie will be accompanied by a card with safe sleep practices, courtesy of THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

“This week is such a special one in our community,” said Lee Smith, executive director of THE PLAYERS. “We are honored to celebrate and connect with those who share a birthday with us.”

Each week, more than 500 babies are born at local hospitals, prompting THE PLAYERS to work with area hospitals to share in the celebrations. Families at the following hospitals have received bodysuits to share with their newest champions: Ascension St. Vincent's Family Birth Place - Southside and Clay County locations; Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville; Baptist Medical Center South; Baptist Medical Center Beaches; Baptist Medical Center Clay; Wolfson Children's Hospital NICU – South; Wolfson Children's Hospital NICU – Jacksonville; Flagler Hospital/Flagler Health+; HCA Florida Memorial Hospital and HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital; UF Health Jacksonville.
