PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – As THE PLAYERS Championship continues to set the gold standard in every facet of the event, tournament officials today announced that award-winning duo, The Chainsmokers, will highlight the tournament’s Military Appreciation Day Ceremony on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.
The performance will take place on the world-famous island green 17th hole and is the headline act of several military-focused initiatives throughout tournament week that will honor members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The concert will immediately follow the Military Appreciation Day Ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets for Tuesday’s practice round at THE PLAYERS Championship offer fans an opportunity to watch the best players in the world prepare at the purest test in golf as well as attend the Military Appreciation Day Ceremony and Concert for $45+. Tuesday parking is $15 and must be purchased in advance.
Grammy® Award-winning duo The Chainsmokers have developed some of the biggest breakthrough songs over the last few years including Multi-Platinum certified hits “Roses,” “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Closer,” which went on to become the longest running #1 single of 2016 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group’s debut album Memories…Do Not Open has been certified Platinum and debuted at #1 in the U.S. on the Billboard 200 chart. In December 2018, The Chainsmokers released building album Sick Boy, which has accumulated over 1 billion worldwide streams to date and includes the Platinum-certified single “This Feeling,” featuring Kelsea Ballerini. In addition to Military Appreciation Day, THE PLAYERS provides Active Duty, Military Retirees, Military Reserve, National Guard, and military spouses, along with accompanied dependents, with complimentary admission to the tournament throughout the week; veterans also have the opportunity to purchase up to two (2) discounted tickets per day. Throughout tournament week, all Active Duty, Military Retirees, Military Reserve, National Guard, and accompanied military spouses and dependents, and veterans will have access to the Birdies for the Brave® Patriots’ Outpost, a hospitality tent located near the tee at No. 16 that is reserved exclusively for the military and provides complimentary food, beverages and activities.
Prior to tournament week, THE PLAYERS will host its eighth-annual Military Job Fair on Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Birdies for the Brave® Patriots’ Outpost at TPC Sawgrass. The Military Job Fair is free and open to military personnel, veterans and military spouses who are seeking employment. Approximately 50 companies with open hiring opportunities are expected to be in attendance.
On Sunday, March 8, THE PLAYERS and Birdies for the Brave® will again partner with Operation Shower to host an invitation-only baby shower for 40 military moms-to-be. Scheduled to be held from 12-2 p.m. in the Birdies for the Brave® Patriots’ Outpost, the event will feature Operation Shower’s signature Shower-In-A-Box, high-quality gifts for the moms and babies provided by sponsors and donors.
