It’s time: THE PLAYERS Championship 2019 tickets are now available
The 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season ends next week with the TOUR Championship, the final event of the FedExCup Playoffs. That puts THE PLAYERS Championship right around the corner—183 days, to be exact—and, starting today, tickets are now available for THE PLAYERS 2019, which returns to TPC Sawgrass from March 12-17, 2019.
Tickets for THE PLAYERS can be purchased online, and stadium pass ticket pricing is as follows:
Tuesday, March 12 - $25 Wednesday, March 13 - $25 Thursday, March 14 - $60 Friday, March 15 - $70 Saturday, March 16 - $70 Sunday, March 17 - $70 Weekly - $240
Yes, you read those dates correctly. In case you hadn’t heard already, THE PLAYERS is moving to March in 2019. Say hello to spring time in Northeast Florida, where cooler temperatures, lush fairways and greens, blooming flowers and the world’s best golfers await. Does it get much better than that?!
To answer our last question, yes it can. How? Because the best field in golf literally just keeps getting better. There are no amateurs, no club pros, no qualifiers nor sponsor exemptions in the field—just 144 of the best golfers on the planet going toe to toe to win ‘their’ championship.
Better yet, 125 players have already qualified for THE PLAYERS 2019 via the top-125 from the 2017-18 regular season FedExCup standings, with names like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and past champions Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Si Woo Kim and Webb Simpson atop the list as they compete for the coveted FedExCup trophy and the $10 million that comes with it.
Among those who finished in the top-125 in the regular-season standings was one man who knows a thing or two about winning at TPC Sawgrass—Tiger Woods, two-time champion of THE PLAYERS (2001, 2013). Woods earned a spot in THE PLAYERS 2018 field due to the five-year exemption that exists for past champions of the event. With his spot in THE PLAYERS 2019 field in jeopardy, Woods—not surprisingly—came through in the clutch at the end of the 2017-18 regular season, posting three top-6 finishes in his final four events to enter the Playoffs at No. 20 in the standings and become eligible for THE PLAYERS once again. He enters the 30-man field at this week’s season-ending TOUR Championship at No. 20 in the standings as he looks to become the only three-time winner of the FedExCup in its 12-year history. Third time’s the charm, Mr. Woods!
Past champions who have already qualified for THE PLAYERS 2019:
· 2018: Webb Simpson · 2017: Si Woo Kim · 2016: Jason Day · 2015: Rickie Fowler · 2014: Martin Kaymer · 2013 (and 2001): Tiger Woods · 2012: Matt Kuchar · 2009: Henrik Stenson · 2008: Sergio Garcia · 2007: Phil Mickelson · 2004: Adam Scott
Players who have qualified for THE PLAYERS 2019 and who will be making their first appearances at TPC Sawgrass include:
· Abraham Ancer · Bronson Burgoon · Joel Dahmen · Tyler Duncan · JT Poston · Seamus Power · Andrew Putnam · Sam Ryder · Sam Saunders · Peter Uihlein · Aaron Wise
Also announced today, THE PLAYERS’ Chip in for Youth ticket program has launched. Through the program, any local youth-related charitable organizations or schools have the opportunity to promote the sale of a discounted, $55 Good-Any-One-Day ticket to THE PLAYERS 2019 (competition round tickets regularly start at $60). For each ticket sold, $30 will be directly donated back to the organization. The remaining net proceeds, after fees, will be donated to The First Tee, a nonprofit golf organization focused on teaching life skills through the game of golf. Can anyone say win-win-win?
“It has been amazing to see how much this program has grown since it first launched in 2011,” said Jared Rice, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS Championship. “In 2018, 222 organizations participated in the program, generating $575,450 for local charities—a 628% increase in money generated since inception. On behalf of THE PLAYERS team, it is an honor to have this tournament serve as a platform to help local organizations raise funds and positively impact lives in Northeast Florida and beyond.”
THE PLAYERS also created a bonus pool for the organizations that sell the most tickets, with a $10,000 bonus for first place and $5,000 for second-place. To participate, youth-related organizations can register here. This year’s program runs through March 1, 2019. So, grab your sand wedges and get chipping!
Volunteering at THE PLAYERS is a unique avenue for not only golf fans, but also for those looking to support an event that gives millions of dollars back to the community and to become part of the team that works tirelessly to make the tournament a showcase of excellence. Volunteer registration begins November 5, 2018. Those who wish to apply to be a volunteer at THE PLAYERS this year or who want more information can visit THEPLAYERSvolunteers.com.
